SETTING YOUR HR STRATEGY
THRC supports organisations to align their culture with their organizational goals.
Venture success is dependent, to a significant extent, on the effectiveness with which an
organisation translates its strategic goals into the day-to-day operation in terms of
behaviour, standards, processes and task completion. Effective organisations are both
internally coherent and externally aligned with their environment and customer demands.
Human Resource Management practice has to be designed to support key business priorities.
Our approach is based on the premise that human resource management delivers real added
value to the business. HRM is not a range of isolated activities and interventions, but a
set of integrated mechanisms working across the business. Its contribution has a
measurable contribution to business success.
Effective HRM systems:
* have a systematic impact on the bottom line
* are embedded in the management infrastructure
* help to achieve key business priorities, e.g.
* shortening product cycle time
* increasing customer service
* lower turnover among high quality employees
Every organisation has a unique culture, by this we mean its shared meanings,
beliefs, and understandings which inform its practices, and how it translates its mission
and goals. HR functions lead the setting and maintenance of the culture through the
philosophy, systems and practices which deal with people management, such as recruitment,
reward, communication and development. (back)
CHANGE MANGEMENT
Change is the process of moving from the current state to the "vision" of the
future and always involves a transition which may result in disruption for some. The
relentless pace of change has meant that more organisations than ever are having to deal
with the transition issue. THRC's consultants have supported a number of organisations
identify, plan and implement successfully change initiatives at both the macro and micro
levels. This experience has helped us to understand and overcome some of the common
misconceptions- "time takes care of everything", "Change just needs some
strong leadership" "The weak people are the ones who leave". We undertake a
Change Management process that delivers the following:
¨ Gradually increase the readiness of employees implementation to the "Go Live"
date
¨ Build the capabilities needed for employees to work productively in the changed
environment
¨ Facilitate active and visible leadership and sponsorship of the change projects
¨ Redesign organisation structures, teams and jobs to reflect the future environment
¨ Develop a "Change Management Toolkit" to easily transfer knowledge for future
Change. (back)
Auditing HR practices
Recent changes in employment legislation has created a need to review and realign
personnel policies and practices within companies. This requirement is reiterated by
Employment Equality legislation which requires that employees be treated consistently and
fairly across an organisation. The act also makes employers vicariously liable for the
actions of their employees, and thereby puts the onus on employers to keep employees
informed. When line managers / supervisors vary or are limited in their knowledge of
company policies and procedures, the company risks exposure from poor and inconsistent
people management practices. The definition and implementation of good people management
practices will also contribute to the development and retention of employees.
Transcendent Human Resource Consulting has worked extensively with a variety of companies
to review their policies and support them in developing new procedures and practices.
These take account of the company culture (back)

processes to allow organisations understand how their investment has paid off.

and senior managers in coaching and mentoring.
